We at Thirty West are pleased to announce the three coauthors of Spark Bird, a magical realism novel about a washed-up musician who nearly loses it all, yet discovers strange and risky pathways toward his next big break. This is one of three novels in “The Ternion,” which is coming this summer.
Alright, without further ado, here are the authors…
Jonathan Koven lives in Philadelphia with his wife Delana and their two cats Peanut Butter and Keebler. A Pushcart Prize nominee, Jonathan has both fiction and poetry published—by Assure Press, Animal Heart Press, 300 Days of Sun, and more. He is the author of the poetry chapbook Palm Lines (2020), the award-winning novella, Below Torrential Hill (Electric Eclectic, 2021), and the poetry collection, Mystic Orchards (Kelsay Books, 2023). He was one of 30 writers in the original #antiwrimo novel, Those Who Scream (Thirty West Publishing, 2022).
Julian Shendelman lives with his husband and dogs near Philadelphia. After pursuing—and ultimately abandoning—an academic career as a queer/trans theorist, Julian turned his attention to re-establishing his writing practice and community. He is the author of the chapbook, Dead Dad Club (Nomadic Press, 2017), and his creative nonfiction and fiction have appeared in Philadelphia Stories and Cleaver Magazine, respectively. He’s been a fellow at the Lambda Lit Retreat for Emerging LGBTQ+ Writers (2012) and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (2022). When he's not freelancing, he's running Collective Lit.
Daniel DeRock is a writer from the Midwestern United States currently living in The Netherlands.
