Thirty West Newsletter - November 2023
Three book events, #antiwrimo begins, and our 8th birthday
Hi there.
I’m happy to say that I completed my book fair circuit. Three tables in one month is a new record. Sprinkle in some smaller readings, and you have the zestiest autumn soup an indie publisher can cook. I’m thinking of a mushroom bisque…yeah?
November. While many will be focusing on their NaNoWriMo, TW is going in a different direction. The #antiwrimo omnibus has three trios of writers who will write these manuscripts: Realism, Horror/Speculative Sci-fi, and Literary Epic. I can already predict it’ll be the largest book in TW history.
Expect to see some introductions and other nifty #antiwrimo content as the month moves on. Like the first iteration of #antiwrimo, this is the ‘slow burn’ project for the next 6-7 months. Gather around the campfire now!
This is what the 2023 Catalog looks like. Our most ambitious year, these 10 titles (4 chapbooks, 6 books) have given the team much to be grateful for. Thank you, Chelsea, Sean, Adam, Shannon, Sy, Samn, Beck, Ryan, Joseph, and Sarah for entrusting us with your manuscripts. The TW team loved every minute of our time together.
The Extra Bits
More Afterimages essays, interviews, and reviews are on the way, including special #antiwrimo features.
In celebration of our 8th birthday, we want to pay it forward. For the whole month of November, when you purchase any TW book or chapbook, we will gift a 2nd to a friend or the next reader in our queue.
We’re starting a book club and calling it: Westies. The yearly catalog is only $100. I’m not a math guy, but that’s $10 per book, and shipping is on the house. It’ll help us get ready for 2024’s catalog, including Nicole Rivas, Ross McMeekin, and much more. There will be free extras for all new sign-ups.
Happy Halloween!
