Thirty West Newsletter - September 2023
Closing out the year, more book events, and some reflection
Hi again.
I recall this time last year, we were gearing up for the first installment of Fall of Fiction. Remember that? It’s a special thing when you can repeat an ambitious endeavor. Here’s one more look at these 3 novellas. We even have some blurbs.
“Late Nights at Full Moon Records is a tale of hungers both monstrous and human.”
—Stephanie Feldman, author of Saturnalia
“Bardo is a reminder it’s the hunger for redemption, not the thirst for vengeance, that’s a never-ending cycle.”
—Jeff Chon, author of Hashtag Good Guy with a Gun
“Lizard People is a deeply felt and exquisitely strange novella. Florida fabulism at its finest.”
—Caroline DeBruhl, book critic at Creative Loafing Tampa Bay
TW will close its publication calendar with 10 published titles. That could be a new record. It’s good to be proud of such things, uplifting authors and seeing their books read vastly. TW won’t be finished yet, though.
If you’re attending the Barrelhouse Conference in a few weeks, we would love to chat with you. Collingswood Book Festival will be here soon, too. 1-2 other book-related festivals are still in the works. It’s fun to hit the road, especially as the weather cools.
I’m planning new ways to change our operations, to recall the joy of publishing books in the first place. Plus, our backlist is craving some rejuvenated attention. I encourage you to get accustomed to our interview series, “Thirty West Revisited”. You may see some of your TW favorites again.
The 2024 calendar is still in progress. Gearing up for the Winter-Spring 2024 authors will be yet another exciting time. We thank you for your patience during our summer submission period. There’s still time to fall in love with your book.
More Afterimages essays, interviews, and reviews are on the way. Remember, there is never an expiration date with indie lit. Take care.
